MADISON AVE.

Brett can not be more excited to be back “home” in Spring Hill doing what he loves most; teaching and directing youth theatre!! He wants to thank MAPA for entrusting their great program and this amazing show with him and Erin; whom he gets to direct with for the first time ever!

Brett has been involved with theatre as a performer, director or designer for over 40 years. He graduated from the University of Saint Mary in 2011 with his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Secondary Education. He was then lucky enough to be hired by the Spring Hill School District to teach, direct and develop the high school theatre department, which he proudly did for nine years. Beyond his time with SHHS, Brett has extensive performance, directing and technical experience with Gladstone Theatre in the Park as well as serving a term on the GTIP Advisory Board. He has also been Winnetonka High School’s set designer and builder the last three years.

BRETT BUFFUM

Erin is so thrilled to be directing her 4th MAPA show, and is thankful to everyone for providing her first opportunity to work on a team with her favorite director!!  She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from UMKC in 2009 and has been a choir director at both the middle school and high school level.  Erin believes that all people can (and should!) sing!  She loves teaching students to be confident, independent, and healthy singers!

Erin is proud to have been the inaugural director of the K-5 theatre program for MAPA, and spent several summers as the music director for Kansas City Lyric Opera’s summer opera camp.  She spends her summers vocal and pit directing for her theatre home, Gladstone Theatre in the Park.  Erin has previously been a member and soloist for the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and has also been a member of the Kansas City Chorale.

Erin earned her masters degree in school counseling in 2021.  She spends her days an elementary school counselor in the North Kansas City School District and teaches private voice lessons at night.
